Calabash,
NC
910-579-2574 | | | | | Description: CALABASH. Nance ain't just any Captain ... In fact, this restaurant is one of a handful of proud local institutions that keep the tradition of seafood, Calabash-style, alive and kicking in this tiny fishing village just across the NC state line. You want fresh? The shrimp, crabs, oysters, scallops and fish they serve are fresh-caught each day, and when you pair an order of one of those with several of their homemade hushpuppies ... Well, let's just say the big crowds don't lie. If you stop by in the evening, you'll catch great views of the boats on the Calabash River, too.

843-651-5800 | | | | | Description: MURRELLS INLET. Not at all your run-of-the-mill seafood joint, the Divine Fish House has garnered high praise from a veritable who's who of regional and national publications. The food, as you might expect, is large reason for the place's popular appeal, and the offerings range from superbly-prepared beef and seafood courses to more exotic numbers like sushi. The place's atmosphere also receives high marks. Contemporary and even a tad artsy, Divine bucks the notion that a Murrells Inlet restaurant has to be decorated with nets and taxidermy. If it's nice out, ask for a table on their deck the view is terrific. For lunch, try Divine's on-site bar, Wahoo's.

Among its many virtues the beautiful setting on the Intracoastal Waterway, the awesome golf, the luxurious accommodations the Barefoot Resort can take great pride in one thing in particular: Docksider's Grill. This casual spot delivers outstanding "Docktails," making it a great place to cool your heels after a day spent playing in the sun or shopping. In addition, the place also serves up all sorts of tasty eats, including baby-back ribs, lobster salad, crab cakes and oyster pie. All of that is trumped, though, by the view of the yachts and sailboats as they move toward and away from their slips.

Each of the nine dining rooms has plenty to occupy your eyes, including an 800 gallon saltwater fish tank with sharks and eels, museum-quality nautical relics and an impressive collection of model ships. And the buffet is overflowing with calabash-style (fried) seafood, broiled fish, crab cakes and snow crab legs about 170 items in all, plus impressive salad and dessert bars.
